Key insurance moves at AIG, CRC Group, Roots, Zurich North America and Hiscox

Several major insurers have announced leadership appointments and new hires aimed at bolstering regional operations and advancing digital capabilities.

AIG names CEO for Latin America and Carribean

American International Group will appoint Angelo Colombo (pictured above, left) as CEO for its Latin America and Caribbean division, effective June 2, 2025, subject to regulatory approval.

Colombo will be based in Sao Paulo and report to Jon Hancock, executive vice president and CEO of International Commercial Insurance and Global Personal Insurance. He will oversee AIG’s business across the region. Colombo joins from Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, where he served as Regional CEO for Latin America.

CRC Group adds three to specialty team

CRC Group, a wholesale specialty insurance distributor, has expanded its CRC Specialty team with three new hires.

JV Franks joined as underwriting team leader in New Orleans, bringing more than 25 years of brokerage experience. Alicia Calhoun was named senior vice president and senior broker in Houston, with over 20 years of industry experience. Tim Frawley joined as underwriting team leader, bringing over a decade of underwriting expertise. The hires align with CRC’s strategy to expand brokerage resources and deliver tailored coverage solutions.

Roots appoints Diane Brassard to lead AI education

Roots, creator of the insurance-focused generative AI model InsurGPT, named Diane Brassard head of education and advocacy.

Brassard brings more than 30 years of experience in claims, underwriting, operations, and automation. She will lead efforts to promote AI adoption and intelligent automation across the insurance sector. Brassard previously held senior roles at WR Berkley, Berkley Mid-Atlantic, Colony Specialty, and The Main Street America Group.

Zurich North America announces national accounts and underwriting leadership changes

Zurich North America said Heather Fox will become head of U.S. National Accounts on May 15, replacing Paul Lavelle, who will retire in June. Fox, who joined Zurich in 2023 as chief underwriting officer, has over 25 years of experience.

Peter Caminiti was promoted to chief underwriting officer, effective May 15. Caminiti has been with Zurich since 2014 and was most recently head of underwriting for U.S. National Accounts. Paul Lavelle will remain through June 1 to support the transition.

Hiscox names head of digital partnerships

Hiscox appointed Nick Mabunay (pictured above, right) as senior vice president and head of digital partnerships.

Mabunay joins from Next Insurance, where he was director of Partnerships. He will report to the Head of Channel for Wholesale Specialty and Digital Partnerships. Mabunay has held leadership roles at Liberty Mutual Insurance and holds degrees from Stevens Institute of Technology and Boston College.
