Blink Parametric, a B2B SaaS firm under CPPGroup Plc, has appointed Brian Barter (pictured above) as its new chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Barter will oversee the execution of its strategy, aiming to expand Blink Parametric’s footprint as a parametric platform for insurers and financial services partners globally.
Prior to joining Blink Parametric, Barter held senior roles at Accenture and Bank of Ireland. He most recently served as managing director at BoatyardX, a software business that originated within Shipyard Technology Ventures.
At BoatyardX, he led operations from inception through its acquisition by Ergo in 2022 and managed the subsequent integration into the Ergo Group.
Barter replaces Sid Mouncey, who will remain with Blink Parametric as chief commercial officer. Mouncey will continue to focus on advancing Blink’s growth and distribution plans, with an emphasis on delivering value and innovation for the company’s partners.
The leadership transition follows earlier significant changes within the company. In 2021, Blink Parametric announced the departure of its co-founders, CEO Paul Prendergast and CTO Peter Bermingham.
David Morrison, chairman of CPPGroup Plc, said Barter’s appointment comes at a critical period as Blink looks to strengthen its market position.
“Brian’s extensive strategic and operational experience in the financial services, IT and insurtech sectors make him the ideal leader to guide Blink through its next chapter,” Morrison said.
Founded in 2016 as Blink Innovation, the company was acquired by CPP Group in 2017 for an initial consideration of €1 million. Headquartered in Cork, Ireland, the company expanded its physical presence by opening a new European Union headquarters in Cork in 2023, with plans to double its local workforce by the end of 2025.
“Blink has built excellent foundations in recent years, including refining and enhancing its technology stack, service model and growing product portfolio. These foundations were built under Sid Mouncey’s leadership, and in his new role as chief commercial officer, he will continue to play a key role in the team, staying close to partners to shape the growth of the business,” Barter said.
In terms of other recent strategic developments, Blink Parametric has focused on expanding its partnership network. In November, the company partnered with Protect Group to offer real-time parametric travel protection services integrated into Protect Marketplace.
Additionally, in December, Blink launched FlyEasy, its flight disruption assistance product, in partnership with Zurich Indonesia, further extending its reach in the Asia-Pacific region.
